Welcome to Smile and Breathe!
In a world that constantly pulls our attention outward, we often overlook one of the most precious gifts we have: the body-mind.
Have you ever ignored the physical pain your body was trying to tell you?
I have.
Have you ever taken your precious breath for granted?
I have.
Have you ever spent time searching outside yourself for ways to ease pain, only to find that something still felt missing?
I have.
Smile and Breathe is my daily sanctuary, a place that constantly reminds me to pause, to stop being pulled outward, and to turn inward: to listen when the body speaks, to cherish each breath, and to trust the quiet wisdom within. I share this little corner with you, and perhaps we may practice together.
Through my own experiences with pain, injury, and recovery, I began to realize that some forms of healing are found not only in the support of the outer world, but also within this body-mind, this inner world that is so often overlooked.
Imagine healing as a bird with two wings. One wing is the support we receive from the world around us. The other is learning to trust and listen to the intelligence of the body-mind. Both are needed for the journey.
Here, I share reflections on yoga and meditation, physical healing, and back pain techniques drawn from therapeutic yoga poses (asana) and breathwork (pranayama). We begin with pranayama, cultivating conscious breathing as the foundation for healing before adding movement through asana.
Start small: one breath, one stretch, one moment of awareness each day.
Take a breath.
Smile.
Let’s begin to heal.
